Peer Mentoring Program

At Brooks Rehabilitation, we believe in the power of peer support. Our Peer Mentoring program provides a safe place where the newly disabled and their families can discuss the challenges they face, their feelings and questions with someone who successfully navigates life after injury.

Our mentorship program can help provide:

  • Emotional support
  • Social connections
  • Tips and tricks to daily life
  • Help with local resources
  • Assistance in setting and achieving goals

Request a Mentor

At any point in your recovery journey, you can request a mentor. Whether a patient at our inpatient hospital, receiving care at an outpatient clinic or participating in our community programs.

Become a Mentor

If you are interested in becoming a mentor to support others in their new life journey, Brooks will provide the connection and training you need.

If you can answer yes to these three questions, peer mentoring might be right for you!

  1. Are you living a successfully transitioned life back into the community — one that illustrates the possibilities of a full and active life?
  2. Are you a minimum of 1-year post diagnosis?
  3. Are you comfortable discussing all aspects of living with a disability and able to truly listen and respond to the needs of others?

What Type of Training is Provided?

All of our mentors have been trained under industry proven standards with focus on the five stages of change and rediscovery, the ethics of mentoring, assistance in goal setting, communication techniques and cultural diversity.
