Pediatric Recreation

Promoting a sense of self-worth, belonging, and quality of life

Our Pediatric Recreation program provides a safe and supportive environment for youth with physical and/or developmental disabilities so they can engage in recreational activities alongside their peers.

With a focus on a healthy lifestyle, youth can engage in activities that promote fitness, socialization, enrichment and independence. Classes and events are provided throughout the Jacksonville and St. Augustine. All events are provided in a group setting to foster friendship and socialization.

Activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Adaptive Aquatics
  • Group Social Activities
  • Outings
  • Respite Events
  • Fitness Activities
  • Educational and Resource Fairs

Who We Serve

Youth of all ages are encouraged to participate in our classes and events. The program caters to children with mobility, intellectual, developmental and sensory impairments. Each class will have criteria on age, abilities and goals for the class, which will be discussed with families prior to enrollment.

Classes and events are free to families in order to decrease the burden of financial responsibility and  ensure inclusion for all participants.

Our program would not be as successful as it is without the assistance of community volunteers. Our volunteers come from local colleges, schools and many are Brooks employees.
