Sports Therapy

What is sports therapy?

Sports therapy is rehabilitation services provided to athletes of all ages. We provide rehabilitation to athletes for injury prevention, rehabilitation, and post operative recovery to bridge the gap to allow patients to safely return to their sport safely at a high intensity and reduced risk of future injury.

What is a sports therapist?

What makes us different is that our therapists are sports certified specialist as well as orthopedic certified specialist. We also offer a residency program where are therapist are working to achieve this certification and provide both on field and off field therapy.

What programs do Brooks offer?

Return to sport training

Our new sports room is equipped to provide an on field experience when recovering. We have indoor turf, plyometric walls, Woodyway treadmill, and squat rack to allow for functional training. This can be beneficial with athletes who need to return to cutting on field, sprinting, and strengthening.

Blood Flow Restriction Training

Game-changing injury recovery therapy that produces dramatic results with diminished atrophy and loss of strength from disuse after an injury. This is used to improve strength, endurance and hypertrophy at lower loads for sensitive or healing tissues to allow our athletes to quickly return to sport at high intensity.

Dartfish Biomechanical Analysis

Video technology and a frame-by-frame breakdown allows the clinician to analyze the alignment, balance and form of specific movements. This technology is commonly used to evaluate running, baseball and football throwing and golf swings.

AlterG Treadmill

By using pressurized air around the midsection, this unique treadmill allows athletes to walk and run even when they are unable or lack the ability to bear full weight. This allows for reconditioning to begin sooner in the recovery process.

Biodex Isokinetic Assessments

This evaluation measures the peak torque of joint movements to assess muscle strength. For injuries to knees, shoulders, wrists and elbows, muscle strength assessments allow for an objective comparison to pre-injury strength to determine if the athlete is ready to return to sport.

Aquatic Therapy

Our aquatic therapy pool is ideal for athletes who want to continue training at a reduced load. This will allow the athletes to progress with running and jumping activities with decreased weight bearing. It provides an interim training option until full recovery is achieved.

Brooks Sports Medicine Program

Based at the CST, the Brooks Sports Medicine Program partners with many local high schools and community sport teams to provide their sports medicine services. Using a multidisciplinary approach of athletic trainers, physical therapists and physicians, we help athletes of various sports and backgrounds achieve their goals on and off the field.
